Choosing the right Circular Blade Circular saw blades are now almost always carbide tipped so the cutting of hard woods, chipboard, plywood, MDF, aluminium and stainless are all possible. Before selecting a circular saw blade different types of saws are better suited to certain types of blades. Portable Circular Saws Ranging in size from as little as 125mm up to 260mm your choice of blade is only limited by the quality, price and finish you require. Generally the more teeth the finer the finish. Sometimes a trade off between finish and speed of cut may have to be made. A quick rule of thumb would be to take the diameter say 235mm, divide your diameter by 10 = 24 approx teeth = fast cutting. Double it = 48 = medium general purpose cutting. Need a fine but slower cutting blade add the two = 60 teeth. With a hand held circular saw the quality of blade may not be your first priority. For instance if you are constantly hitting nails then a cheap blade may be the best choice. On the other hand if you need to shoot in quality hard wood doors then a blade with a good plate thickness and a reasonable kerf width is better.
